These are photos of an actual patient of Dr. Romero's, before and after Belotero treatment in the upper lip area.

What is Belotero?
BELOTERO Balance is an exciting new hyaluronic acid filler that smoothes fine lines and wrinkles.

What makes Belotero different from other fillers?
Unlike other fillers, Belotero is injected superficially into the top layer of skin for a softer, more natural correction. Instead of adding bulk or volume, Belotero simply molds with your own natural tissues to smooth away fine lines.
Is Belotero safe?
Since Belotero is made up of hyaluronic acid (HA), which is naturally found in your skin, it simply replenishes your skin's HA to fill in wrinkles and folds.
Are there any side-effects?

As with other fillers, there is a chance of swelling after the treatment for about 1 day. There is little chance of allergic reaction, since Belotero contains hyaluronic acid, a substance that is naturally found in your body.

Where can Radiesse be used?
Dr. Romero uses Belotero to correct lines around the mouth (i.e. "smoker's lines") and eyes (i.e. "crow's feet"). If you would like to know if Belotero will work for you, please call us at (631) 858-0500 for a consultation.
How painful is the procedure?
An numbing cream with three active ingredients (benzocaine, lidocaine and tetracaine) is applied for about 30 minutes. In addition, an ice pack may also be applied just before and immediately after the procedure. Lidocaine can also be injected into the area and if necessary, a lidocaine block inside the upper lip can be used for better pain control. Tylenol can greatly reduce the discomfort.
What can I expect after the procedure?
Many of our patients go back to work after the procedure. It is best to rest, though, if possible. You may have mild swelling and bruising for up to three days. When you go to bed, sleep with a 30-degree angle and avoid sleeping on one side to avoid disturbing the placement of the filler. You may take Tylenol for pain but not aspirin or ibuprofen which may increase bruising.
